What's the difference between Nordic Touring skis and Alpine Touring/Backcountry Telemarking skis? Nordic touring skis are usually narrower than Telemark/AT skis for more efficient gliding while touring, but with sidecut to enable turns when the opportunity arises (this differs from model to model). They're not designed for powerful, aggressive downhill skiing. These skis are also lighter in weight and softer flexing than most Tele/AT skis to again make touring more efficient; the drawback is less stability on fast/aggressive descents, especially in less than soft snow conditions. Thus, we will not usually recommend skiing a Nordic Touring setup on a groomed ski resort.

What's the difference between Nordic Touring skis and Classic skis? Nordic Touring skis are designed wider than Classic skis to help with floation in soft and ungroomed snow. Thus, they will be less efficient in groomed tracks, but they will float better off-track.
